Dinos drop game to T-Birds at Hawkings Field

| By:
CALGARY - The University of Calgary Dinos were defeated by the UBC Thunderbirds 4-0 in Canada West field hockey action on Oct. 5 at Hawkings Field.

Four different Thunderbirds scored in the match, while UBC goaltender Bea Francisco earned the shut out. The Calgary Dinos have scored just one goal all season and were held scoreless once again.

Just seven minutes into the game UBC got their first goal from second-year forward Hannah Haughn. Despite the pressure the Thunderbirds put on the Dinos defence, they were unable to get another one past Dinos goaltender Stephanie Petrowitch as the half ended 1-0.

In the second, possession heavily favoured the Thunderbirds, but it wasn't until the 62nd minute when they got their second goal, this time from veteran Natalie Sourisseau. Just a minute later UBC would knock their third one in from third-year defender Rachel Donohue.

The game finished up with one last goal from UBC thanks to fourth-year forward Katherine Gillis in the 67th minute.

The Dinos and the Thunderbirds will face each other for the last time this season on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Hawkings Field. The Dinos finish up their season on the road next weekend when they face the Victoria Vikes in their final two games of the regular season.
