Fabien ranked No. 5 by CFL Central Scouting

TORONTO – University of Calgary offensive lineman Kirby Fabien is the No. 5-ranked prospect for the 2012 Canadian Football League draft, the CFL announced Monday.

Fabien, a six-foot-six, 300-pound third-year player out of Calgary's Bishop McNally High School, was a Canada West all-star in 2009 and was named to the second All-Canadian team as a redshirt freshman the same season. He has represented Canada internationally on several occasions, including the 2009 IFAF World Junior Championship in Canton, Ohio. He was named to the West team for the 2011 CIS East West Bowl all-star game in London, Ont. earlier this year.

Fabien is the second-highest Canada West player on the list, trailing Saskatchewan offensive lineman Ben Heenan, who tops the list at No. 1.

Fabien and the Dinos are currently ranked No. 3 in the FRC-CIS Top 10 and will take their unbeaten, 3-0 record into this weekend's contest against the Saskatchewan Huskies (2-1) at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, live on QR77 and CanadaWest.tv.
