Team Canada Blog: Team USA awaits

VIENNA, Austria - Dinos offensive lineman Reed Alexander checks in from Vienna ahead of tomorrow's world championship final between Canada and the United States.

Hey Everyone!

Sorry I have been a MIA but we have been really busy out here! If you haven't been following the IFAF's website or godinos.com we beat Austria in a very physical game. They were a very talented team and with the support of their extremely loud fans it was a crazy atmosphere!! The fans here are so passionate about the football which is kind of surprising so its been a great trip.

We had our usual in-between games practice, meetings and meals which has become quite the routine almost to the point where I don't have to be awake to function haha which isn't bad because I love the atmosphere being completely in football mode. Our game against the Japanese was the team had been really looking forward to because we knew that they were going to be good....we were right!

A lot of people I had talked to were really shocked to hear that the Japanese would be good at football but if you look at the culture and values of the country, you see that in everything they do, they do it to perfection. They weren't the biggest team but functionally impressive, their timing and technique was second to none. I have never had linebackers move so quickly but man was it a hell of a game! We went back and forth with them until in the end we hit a pass to a running back, David Stevens, and he ran it down to the the goal line and we punched it in to take the lead with 2 minutes or so left in the game, what a great feeling!

So today we finished up practice and meetings and went for a jog as a team to get the lactic acid out of the body and then we hit up the pool before we went back to our rooms to pack. We loaded the bus up later and left Graz as the final games will be played in Vienna. After the 3 hour trip we finally made it to our hotel which is no joke an “IKEA” hotel it seems! The bright colors and crazy European designed rooms and furniture were not designed for large Canadian football players but it is all part of this amazing experience this tournament has become!

So there will be pictures loaded up on my Facebook, in the Team Canada folder, of this new hotel for those who are interested in this culture. So after checking into our rooms we made our way down to another epically delicious meal and then to meetings where we had our first look at the American team. We have the talent on our team to give them a hell of a run and no matter what in the end it is going to be a great game! It is now room check time so I have to head up to bed so I will talk to you all tomorrow hopefully. Thanks for following and supporting everything we are doing over here!

Go CANADA!!
