Keara Chicquen, Kaitlyn Longworth and Serena Lockhart would each net two to help the Dinos tally six goals against the Vikes in the first game of the double header weekend. The Dinos were up 4-0 at the half and continued to dominate in possession throughout the game.

The UVic side would tally two goals thanks to seniors Courtney Low and Whitney Siegmann. Low finished on an open net following a broken down penalty corner, while Siegmann's goal, also on a corner, was a straight shot in. Both goals deserving to the two hard working forwards, Low and Siegmann, playing in their last games as Vikes.

The Dinos opened the scoring only two minutes in with a goal by Chicquen, her fourth of the season. A long ball was sent down the left side to an unmarked Longworth. Her hard cross found Chicquen's stick to just deflect past Alexandra Martinuik (Calgary, Alta.). Sequential goals at the four and six minute mark from Longworth and Lockhart Calgary up 3-0. Both goals came from deflections at the far post.

Only five minutes later, Carolina Romeo's reverse shot was redirected in on the backhand by Longworth, her second of the match to put the Dinos up 4-0. The Dinos contained the Vikes to their own end for the remainder of the half. The Vikes did enter the Calgary end off a few fast breaks down the left side from Low (Richmond, B.C.) and senior Jasleen Aujla (Surrey, B.C.) but it would not be enough to get on the board before the half.

The Vikes finally earned their first corner in the 38th minute and would get their first goal of the game on it. A series of passes and attempted shots would finally find the reverse stick of Low, who tapped the ball into the open net to bring the score 4-1 for the Dinos. The goal was well-deserved for Low, as her efforts were the most evident on the pitch for the Vikes.

With 25 minutes left on the clock, Dinos' Lockhart would net her second of the game on a penalty corner. Longworth's initial shot was saved by Vikes defender Kyla Kirby (Victoria, B.C.) but a messy rebound was then put in by Lockhart at the near post to bring the score to 5-1. Soon after, Chicquen would get her second of the match in free play beating Martinuik on the short side to give the Dinos a 6-1 lead.

On a late penalty corner, Vikes' co-captain Siegmann would tally one on a straight shot on a penalty corner. The Vikes' second goal came following a number of penalty corner opportunities. Despite the valiant efforts of the seniors Low, Siegmann and Aujla, the Vikes would come up short in their second to last season game.

The Vikes will host Calgary tomorrow, Oct. 23, at 12 p.m. MT at the UVic field hockey pitch.
