CALGARY – This weekend the Dinos (3-13-0) will face a tough challenge when they fly to Winnipeg to take on the fourth-ranked Manitoba Bisons (12-4-0).
The Dinos are fresh off therr first back-to-back wins of the season after they took down the Regina Cougars in 3-2 and 3-0 victories in Calgary.
Manitoba is coming off its second losing weekend of the season after the tenth-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies beat them 3-2 and 6-1 in Saskatoon.
The last time these two teams met the Bisons ran away with both games, winning 4-1 and 6-1 at the Olympic Oval in October.
Part of the Dinos recent success hinges on the return of second-year forward
Sinead Tracey to the lineup. Tracey has added an offensive touch to the Dinos lineup that has pushed them to some success late in the season. Tracey joins Cait O'Hara and
Elana Lovell on a scoring line that combined for four goals and eight points in the Dinos' two recent victories.
On the goaltending front the Dinos have been bolstered by veteran goaltender
Katie Urness who made 49 of 51 stops, including three saves in the shootout, last weekend including an 18 save shutout performance in the 3-0 victory.
Manitoba's threats will come in the form of Addie Miles, Caitlin MacDonald and Tammy Brade; all three players are in the Canada West top 15 scorers with 19, 14 and 13 points respectively.
The games go ahead at 6 p.m. MT on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22-23 at Max Bell Arena in Winnipeg.
