Well-rested Dinos head to Saskatoon

| By:
CALGARY – The 1-5 Dinos women's hockey team will have a chance for vengeance this weekend as they take their quest for a second win east to Saskatoon to face the 4-1-1 University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

The last time these two teams met was three weeks ago in the second week of the regular season. That meeting saw the Huskies sweep the Dinos in 5-0 and 3-2 decisions. Saskatchewan's Stephanie Purcell was responsible for the majority of the scoring in the first game after she pulled off a hat trick in the Dinos' home opener.

Calgary rebounded from the first blowout by playing a more solid game in the second go-around but were sunk by the Huskies' power play, which accounted for all three Saskatchewan goals.

Currently Saskatchewan's power lies in their defence, having allowed just nine goals in six outings so far this season. Goaltender Vanessa Frederick, a former Dino, is largely responsible for this success, posting a 0.95 save percentage and 1.19 GAA in five games.

The Dinos goaltenders will be looking to improve their performances this weekend with Jennifer Mallard currently leading the trio statistically with a 0.877 save percentage and 3.19 GAA. Whoever starts the games this weekend will be looking to improve the most important stat, the one that rookie Jessica Ross leads in: wins.

Both teams should enter this game with rested bodies as neither team had games last weekend; the Dinos because of a scheduled bye and the Huskies because the Lethbridge Pronghorns had to postpone due to widespread flu.

The puck will drop on this series on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7, at Rutherford Arena in Saskatoon with a 6 p.m. MT start time for both games.
