Lady Dinos look for redemption

| By:

CALGARY - The Dinos women's hockey team takes to the ice this weekend in Edmonton with hopes of defeating the MacEwan College Griffins. This will inevitably be a hard-fought match as the Griffins were responsible for ending the Dinos' playoff run last season by winning the ACAC final in four games.

Last season the Griffins entered the playoffs in fifth place pairing off against Red Deer in the first round. MacEwan swept that series and went on to face Mount Royal College, the league leaders during the regular season; that series went to the Griffins in three very close games.

Following their victory over the league leaders MacEwan faced the Dinos in the final, once again coming out victorious.

This is the first meeting between these two teams since the final last season and it is sure to be an emotional match-up.

So far this season the 5-1 Dinos are faring much better than the 3-3 Griffins, who have a win and a loss against each of the three teams they've faced so far this season. The Dinos began the season with a five game winning streak before being foiled by Mount Royal College at the Olympic Oval in their most recent game.

This is a drawn-out series with only a single game for each of the next two weeks, the first game starts up on Sunday, Nov 9 at 2 p.m. at the Grant Fuhr Arena in Spruce Grove. The second game is on Saturday Nov. 15 at the Olympic Oval with a 7:30 p.m. start time.
