REGINA - Omar Langford had 27 kills to power the Calgary Dinos to a four-set victory over the Regina Cougars on Friday night in Canada West men's volleyball action at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

All four sets were closely contested, with none decided by more than four points. The Cougars opened the match with a 25-21 win over the No. 4-ranked Dinos, but Calgary reeled off 25-21, 25-22, and 25-21 victories to clinch the match.
Langford's 27 kills on Friday are the most by a Canada West player in a single match this season and the third most by a Dinos player since rally point scoring began in 2008. Langford also holds the number two spot on that list after a 28-kill performance last season at Manitoba. The fourth-year outside hitter also had four assisted blocks and a team-high seven digs for the Dinos.
Ciaran McGovern dished out 54 assists in the four sets, while Oleg Podporin led Calgary at the net with one solo block and five block assists. Podporin also had eight kills and just one error on 11 attacks for a blistering .636 hitting percentage.
Christopher Knoop registered a double-double for Regina with 14 kills and a match-high 10 digs. Mathew Brooks led the team with 15 kills, while Ryan DeCosse had 41 assists.
Calgary improves to 6-3 with the win, while the Cougars drop to 0-9.
The two teams will play again on Saturday night at 6 p.m.
