Fourth-year senior goaltender Jeff Weber of the University of Calgary Dinos has been named the Canada West Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1, 2009. The 6’3”, 205-pound Social Sciences student from Ottawa, Ontario kept the Dinos in the hunt for a playoff berth as he backstopped his team to a two-game sweep of the fourth ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 30-31. Weber opened the series with a 6-3 victory over the visiting Huskies on Friday night and then made 25 saves to register his second career Canada West Hockey shutout as the Dinos earned the series sweep over Saskatchewan with a 7-0 win. With the two victories, Weber has lowered his goals-against average to 2.64, which places the Calgary netminder fifth in the conference.  In 12 conference games, he has a 5-5-0 record with one shutout and a .906 save percentage. Overall, WEBER is 7-6-0 in 13 games with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage.
