STONY PLAIN, Alta. – The University of Calgary Dinos men's and women's golf teams each finished in third place at the University of Alberta Invitational, closed out on Monday at Stony Plain Golf Course, with both teams ending one stroke short of second place.
The Dinos men carded a two-day total of 586 (+18) to place third among five teams, just one stroke behind the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns (585, +17) and five back of champions University of Alberta Golden Bears (581, +13). Calgary shot 291 in Sunday's opening round and 295 on Monday. Lethbridge led after the first round at 286, but a 299 in the second let Alberta move ahead with a 292.
Desmond White led the way for the Dinos men, finishing fourth individually with a two-round total of 143 (70-73), one stroke off of a podium finish. Sahil Kaura and
Sawyer Tessier each shot 147 (+5) to tie for sixth, while
Maaz Saad tied for 10th at 149 (+7).
Adam Reed added a 154 (+12) for 18th, and Jeffrey Guo rounded out the Calgary lineup with a 162 (+20) for 22nd.
On the women's side, the Pronghorns took the team title at 495 (+69), with the Alberta Pandas second at 520 (+94) and the Dinos third at 521 (+95). Calgary trimmed five strokes from its opening-round 263 with a 258 on Monday.
Kristin McGeachie led the Calgary women with a 167 (+25), good for fourth individually after rounds of 85 and 82.
Peyton Schmidt was fifth at 173 (+31), while
Danica Pirart and Allessandra De Ciancio each carded 181 (+39) to tie for eighth.
Norah Andronyk added a 188 (+46) for 12th.
