LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – The University of Calgary Dinos golf teams opened their season with third-place finishes in both the men's and women's competitions at the University of Lethbridge Invitational, closed out Monday at Paradise Canyon Golf Club.
The Dinos men carded a two-day total of 586 (+18) to finish third among five teams, one stroke back of the host Lethbridge Pronghorns (585, +17) and five behind champion Alberta Golden Bears (581, +13).
Desmond White paced the Dinos men, finishing fourth individually with a two-round total of 143 (70-73), just off the podium. Sahil Kaura and
Sawyer Tessier each shot 147 (+5) to tie for sixth, while
Maaz Saad tied for 10th at 149 (+7).
Adam Reed added a 154 (+12) for 18th, and Jeffrey Guo rounded out the Calgary lineup with a 162 (+20) for 22nd.
On the women's side, the Pronghorns also took the team title at 495 (+69), with the Alberta Pandas runner-up at 520 (+94) and the Dinos third at 521 (+95).
Kristin McGeachie led Calgary's women, tying for fourth individually with a 167 (+25).
Peyton Schmidt was fifth at 173 (+31), while
Danica Pirart and Allessandra De Ciancio each carded 181 (+39) to tie for eighth.
Norah Andronyk added a 188 (+46) for 12th.
The Dinos will return to action Sunday, Sept. 27 when they travel to Edmonton to face the Alberta Golden Bears at the Alberta Invitational, hosted at The Links at Spruce Grove.
