SASKATOON – The University of Calgary Dinos women's soccer team stayed perfect on the season, edging the Saskatchewan Huskies 1-0 on Saturday at Griffiths Stadium on a second-half goal from
Sofia DiGiacomo.
The win improves Calgary to a perfect 5-0-0 on the season, while Saskatchewan fell to 3-1-1.
Saskatchewan was the more threatening side through the opening 45 minutes, out-shooting Calgary 4-2 and forcing four corner kicks as they pressed for the opening goal. Calgary goalkeeper
Cheridan Johnson made the only save of the half in the 12th minute, turning away a Jenna Steacy shot to keep the game scoreless at the break.

Rowyn James stepped up to a free kick more than 40 yards out and sent it sailing over the heads of the Saskatchewan back line and into the box – the kind of delivery that produced goals for the Dinos twice last week.
This time, the Huskies goalkeeper was left tangled up with a defender in front of her, unable to get to the ball, and DiGiacomo pounced to scramble it just over the line for her second goal in as many games and the eventual game-winner.
Calgary came closest to adding a second in the 73rd minute, when James rattled the post. It was a tight one statistically as both sides finished with five shots on the afternoon.
Johnson and the Calgary defence claimed their third clean sheet in four games. Snider took the loss in goal for Saskatchewan.
The Dinos will return to action Sunday, Sept. 20, when they travel to face the Regina Cougars at noon. The game can be seen live on Canada West TV powered by BioSteel.
