WINNIPEG – Powered by two additional school-record performances, the University of Calgary Dinos closed out the 2026 U SPORTS Track & Field Championships on a strong note Saturday inside the James Daly Fieldhouse.
Calgary picked up one more medal and continued to rewrite their record book, finishing the meet with six U SPORTS medals, one U SPORTS record and four program records.
The Dinos finished the meet with 33 points on the women's side to tie for fifth overall, while the men's team scored 40 points to finish seventh in the team standings.
Tristan Friesen claimed his U SPORTS medal with a huge performance in men's shot put. The fourth year saved his best for last, uncorking a toss of 17.05m on his final attempt to bring home the bronze. That mark not only is a new personal best, it is the new Dinos' record – surpassing Mohamed Asiff's mark of 16.96m set back in 2020.
Reagan Bliss was the lone other Dino competing in an individual event on the day. The second year that brought home her second conference silver medal two weeks ago finished eighth this year in women's high jump, clearing the bar at 1.67m against the loaded field.
On the track, the women's 4x200m relay kicked things off with a school record of their own.
Sienna MacDonald,
Georgia Oland,
Kristen Fox and
Emma Parnetta combined for a time of 1:37.15 – taking down the previous record of 1:38.01 set just two years ago. That time just missed a podium finish for the relay, earning a fourth-place finish on the day.
The men's 4x200m relay was equally as impressive. After setting a program record in prelims,
Danyal Rajpoot,
Ethan Parnetta,
River Sanoy and
Devon Zuchotzki combined to clock a time of 1:27.57 – just shy of their new record time of 1:27.30 from Thursday and good for fourth place overall.
Calgary closed out the meet with the 4x400m relays, with the men (Zuchotzki, Parnetta,
Harman Kailey and Rajpoot) taking eighth in 3:17.96, while the women (Fox, Parnetta,
Jenna Conrad and
Csenia Irvin) finished 11th in 3:52.60.
Following the conclusion of the meet,
Sienna MacDonald was named the U SPORTS Women's Athlete of the Meet after bringing home three medals, a national record and two program records.
