CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos Football program will welcome alumni, supporters, and the Calgary community to the 41st Annual 5th Quarter Dinner on April 9, 2026, at Hotel Arts, continuing a tradition that has supported student-athletes and the Dinos football program for more than four decades.
Recognized as Calgary's premier sportsman's dinner, the evening brings together alumni, corporate partners, and supporters to celebrate the legacy and future of Dinos Football. Funds raised through the event provide critical scholarships for student-athletes and help support the continued operations of the program, ensuring excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
This year's keynote speaker is former Calgary Stampeder Alex Singleton, now a defensive leader and team captain with the Denver Broncos.
Singleton's path to the NFL is a story that resonates strongly with Calgary football fans. After joining the Stampeders, he quickly emerged as one of the CFL's most dominant defensive players. A two-time CFL All-Star and West Division All-Star, Singleton led the league in tackles and earned a reputation as one of the most relentless competitors in Canadian football.
His success in Calgary opened the door to the NFL, where he has continued to exceed expectations. In 2022, Singleton led the entire league with 177 total tackles, followed by another 150-plus tackle season, establishing himself as one of the NFL's most productive linebackers and a key contributor on special teams.
Last season, Singleton faced a significant personal challenge when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. After undergoing surgery, he returned to the field just weeks later and delivered one of the most memorable performances of his career, recording 14 tackles in the Broncos' divisional playoff game, setting a team playoff record. His perseverance and leadership were recognized across the league when he received the Ed Block Courage Award, presented annually to NFL players who exemplify commitment to sportsmanship and courage.
Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Singleton has also been widely respected for his commitment to community engagement, particularly during his time in Calgary, where he was actively involved in youth programs and charitable initiatives.
Now one of the NFL's most recognizable defensive leaders, Singleton will share his journey of perseverance, leadership, and resilience with the Dinos community as the featured speaker at this year's event.
The 41st Annual 5th Quarter Dinner promises to be an inspiring evening celebrating the people, traditions, and future of Dinos Football.
