Day 2 complete at 2026 U SPORTS/CCAA Curling Championships

REGINA – Memorial's women's team and Carleton's men's team are the only two undefeated squads remaining through Wednesday at the 2026 U SPORTS/CCAA Curling Championships being hosted by the University of Regina at the Caledonian Curling Club in Regina.

For the Dinos, the men's team suffered their first loss of the tournament before bouncing back with a gritty win in the nightcap. Meanwhile, the Canada West bronze medallist Dinos women suffered a pair of losses on the busy second day of competition.

Coming off a convincing opening win Tuesday night, the Dinos men dropped a match for just the second time all year in a 6-2 setback to Carleton. Things were all tied up at 2-2 after five ends when the Ravens scored three in the sixth and then stole one in the seventh for the win. Calgary responded nicely later in the day against Memorial. The Seahawks scored one in the first only to see Calgary respond with a pair in the second. The AUS champions took a 3-2 lead after five before a big three-spot for the Canada West champions in the sixth. Memorial tied things up in the seventh before the Dinos comfortably added one more to the scoreboard with the hammer in the eighth to secure the win.

For Calgary's women's team, it was a small handful of big ends by the opponents that doomed the Dinos on Day 2. In the morning session, it was a rematch of the Canada West semifinal in a Battle of Alberta. Things were all tied up at three after three, but the Pandas tallied a pair in the fourth and stole one in the sixth. Calgary clawed back within one with a pair in the seventh, but Alberta closed things out in the eighth to just edge out the win. After a single in the opening end in the evening match against host Regina, the Dinos never quite got back on track. The Cougars tied things up with one in the third before a pair of big stolen ends saw the hosts walk away with a decisive win.

The championships feature eight men's teams and eight women's teams competing in round-robin play through Friday. Draws continue Thursday with games scheduled for 11:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. mountain time at the Callie.

Calgary's women's team takes on UNB and Queen's on Thursday, while the men go up against Laurier and Regina.

The top four teams in each competition will advance to the semifinals on Saturday morning, with gold and bronze medal games set for Saturday afternoon.
