Antoniuk named CW Player of the Week

CALGARY – Following a record-breaking performance to start the season, Owen Antoniuk of the Calgary Dinos has been named the Canada West BioSteel Men's Soccer Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Antoniuk supplied all the offence for the Dinos on opening weekend, breaking the program record for goals in a game by finding the back of the net and incredible four times in the 4-1 opening win over the MacEwan Griffins on Saturday. With that effort, Antoniuk becomes just the fourth player since 2006 to tally four goals in a Canada West match. He added a second-half equalizer in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Alberta Golden Bears.

With five goals on the young season, he's already well on his way to matching last season's output of eight goals in 14 games played.

This marks the first CW Athlete of the Week honour for Antoniuk this season and the second in his career.

Calgary is right back on the pitch for two more games this weekend with road contests at Lethbridge (Friday) and Saskatchewan (Sunday).
