The 2025-26 calendar year is here for the University of Calgary Dinos, starting with a pair of home games for the men's soccer team. Calgary kicks things off against MacEwan on Saturday before hosting Alberta Sunday afternoon. Both games will take place just west of campus at the Shane Homes West Soccer Dome.

Calgary enters the season returning all of its starters from a season ago, including five Canada West All-Star selections in Owen Antoniuk, Gianmarco Plenzik, Joey Plenzik, Efe Udolu-Joshua and Kimia Kassanda.

It was a strong first impression from first-year head coach Ramon Mifflin, leading the Dinos to a 7-2-5 record in Canada West action, good for second place in the Prairie Division. The Dinos nearly pulled off a big win in the postseason opener, but fell in heartbreaking fashion in penalty kicks.

The new-look MacEwan Griffins are first up this weekend. Calgary downed MacEwan both times last season, including a 5-1 rout at home. The Griffins will look to improve after finishing 3-10-1 a season ago.

Meanwhile, Sunday's competition is the first Battle of Alberta of the school year as reigning divisional winning Golden Bears come to Calgary. Alberta finished with a 10-1-3 in the regular season before falling in the conference semifinals. The Dinos dropped a 1-0 decision early in the season in Edmonton before settling for a 1-1 draw in Calgary late in the year.

While the men's soccer team is the squad leading the way out of the gates this athletic season, it won't be long before Calgary is competing in a number of its other 23 university sports during the 2025-26 school year.
