CALGARY – After another impressive season on the court for the Calgary Dinos women's basketball team, a pair of its players were named to the Canada West All-Star Teams announced Thursday morning by the league office.
Myriam Kone and
Mya Proctor were both recognized for their efforts on the court following another strong season for the Dinos that once again saw them ranked the entire season – finishing the conference slate with a 16-4 record.
Kone was named a second team all-star Tuesday, continuing to show the growth of her game after being named a third team selection a year ago. The 5-foot-8 point guard led the Dinos in scoring at 16.1 points/game – good for fifth best in the league this season. Kone also finished the year ranked eighth in Canada West in free-throw percentage (75.4), 11th in steals (45) and 12th in assists (61). She also finished the year with 93 rebounds and 11 blocks.
The lone fifth-year on this year's squad, Proctor earns her first postseason award as a member of year's third team all-star squad. The Calgary native and five-time Academic All-Canadian finished the year with 212 points on the year and average 10.6 points/game. The 6-foot guard also tallied 80 rebounds, 36 steals, 34 assists and 20 blocks this season – shooting an impressive 47.7 percent overall from the floor to go with a 79.4 rate from the charity stripe.
This marks the third consecutive season the Dinos have had at least two players receive conference all-star recognition.
