CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos closed out the 2025 portion of its schedule with yet another strong showing at the 2025 Pronghorn Invitational at the First Choice Savings Centre this weekend.

Joseph De Maio and Brantley Saar led the way for the Dinos men in their respective categories.

At the 90kg weight class, De Maio was as efficient as it comes. The fourth year opened with a tech fall in just 1:15 before an incredible win in just 28 seconds in his final bout.

Things were quite similar for Saar. The Lethbridge native put on a show in his hometown, winning 11-0 in his opening match before two more tech fall wins (one in 47 seconds and the final in 1:58) to take the top spot in the 82kg weight class.

On the women's side, three Dinos won their weight classes on Saturday.

Maya Johnston was nearly perfect. The fifth year won 10-0 in her first two bouts before a 12-1 win over Anna Trieu of Alberta. In her final match, Johnston pinning Lethbridge's Halley Arsenault in 1:46 for the win.

Angelina Ellis-Toddington also was dominant in her homecoming. The Lethbridge product had a pair of pins in her opening pairings before a well earning 4-1 decision against former teammate Ellise Daynes to top the 68kg class.

At 65kg, Mackenzie Cayer earned pins in just 55 seconds and 1:59 in her first two bouts to set up a championship match against teammate Elizabeth Latulippe, who earned two dominant tech fall wins of her own. Cayer claimed a 12-0 win over Latulippe in the championship match.

Lola Tipouikidis and Ankita Singh also brought home silver medals at their respective weight classes, as the Dinos continue to shine.

The Scarlet & Gold are now off until Jan. 17 when they head to Edmonton for the Golden Bear Invitational.
