CALGARY – Sydney Mercier of the University of Calgary Dinos has been named the Canada West BioSteel Women's Hockey Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

It was a huge four-point weekend for Mercier. Calgary's fourth-year forward came up big in the biggest moments in helping lead the Dinos to a weekend sweep of No. 9 Trinity Western.

Mercier started things off by having a hand in all three goals of a 3-2 overtime win on Friday. The Saskatoon product helped set up the opening score of the game before netting a pair of her own, including the OT winner.

She followed that up with a late goal in a 2-0 shutout of the ninth-ranked Spartans to finish off the weekend sweep and help Calgary improve to 9-3-2 at the midway point of the year.

The Dinos are once again back at home this weekend, hosting Manitoba for two games inside Father David Bauer Arena, starting Friday at 7 p.m.
