CALGARY – For the third time this season,
Nate Petrone of the Calgary Dinos has been named the Canada West BioSteel Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Calgary's All-Canadian guard was at it again in yet another heavyweight showdown between two of the top four teams in the country.
Petrone was once again incredibly efficient in Calgary's win over No. 4 Winnipeg, scoring 24 points on 8-10 shooting. One night later, he erupted for a season-high 32 points on 13-22 shooting - including drilling five triples.
The hometown product leads the conference with 24.5 points-per-game and also ranks fourth in FG percentage (60.9%).
The second-ranked Dinos once again face a stiff test this coming weekend, hosting No. 10 Manitoba inside the Jack Simpson Gym for a pair of games. Friday's showdown is the annual Pack the Jack night with a host of prizes and giveaways set for fans, while Saturday is Staff Appreciate Day, with tickets only $5 for all UCalgary staff and their families.
