LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Rookie
Sam McKeown claimed the win in his first university tournament to help lead the Dinos men's golf team to a team win in the team's season opener Monday at the Lethbridge Invitational at Paradise Canyon.
McKeown sat in fifth place following Sunday's opening round, before firing a three-under 68 on Monday to finish one stroke ahead of Alberta's Nick Mah for the tournament title.
The newcomer was far from alone, as the Dinos dominated the scoresheet on the day with
Cian Besler-Chalcroft taking third (143) and
Adam Reed (144) tying for fourth.
Overall, the Dinos men finished the two-day tournament five strokes ahead of Alberta for the team title.
Calgary's women also started the 2024-25 season on a strong note, taking second overall.
Georgia Mackenzie led the Scarlet & Gold, finishing tied for third with a two-day score of 175.
The Dinos will now get set to host their own invitational this weekend at the Mackenzie Meadows Golf Course, starting Sunday.
