On the first day of a two day, four game series with the Victoria Golden Tide, Dinos fans were treated to a pitching gem as starting pitcher
Jaydon Wielders blanked the Golden Tide as he struck out six, while surrendering four hits and three walks over eight innings of shutout ball. Wielders was staked to an early lead as Dinos scored one in the first inning as Brendan Tong, reached on error, scored from first base on an
Eric Wirun two out double as the Dinos took advantage of the Golden Tide error. One run was all Wielders would need and in the fifth the Dinos gave him a little security as they score two.
Jacob Carlson led off the inning with a double, followed by
Brett Potter reaching first. With one out
Aiden Szautner hits a single scoring Carlson from third, registering his sixth RBI of the season and Potter advances to third base. Szautner steals second and Potter scores on an error by the Tide's catcher. Dinos round out their scoring with one run in the sixth inning. With one out
Bauer Sewell gets on base with a single.
Ben Hul would follow with another single as Sewell advances to third. Hul steals second and
Jacob Carlson gets an RBI on a groundout to second base as Sewell crosses the plate. Carlson goes two for three at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.
Zach Bryksa pitches a scoreless ninth and the Dinos take game #1 by a score of 4 - 0.
Game two sees both the Dinos and Golden Tide score in the first inning. Brendan Tong leads off the first with a double and moves to third on a groundout by
Cale Yuzdepski. Tong would score on a sacrifice fly by
Aiden Szautner. Score would remain 1 - 1 until the fourth inning when the Golden Tide would touch Dinos starter Riley Burns for three runs in the inning. Burns would return for the fifth, but gets chased as Victoria scores another two runs in the inning. Burns gives up six runs, two earned on six hits through four and a third innings. Golden Tide score two more in the sixth and lead 8 - 1. Dinos get two back in the seventh as
Ben Franz gets a one out double and scores on a single by Ryan Kennedy. Kennedy would eventually score from third on a passed ball, but Dinos fall short by a score of 8 - 3.
Dinos Carson Fox pitches one and a third innings of scoreless relief striking out three. Carter Klapak follows Fox with another inning and a third of scoreless relief and also striking out three.
Cashe Newans would close the game for the Dinos as he pitches the scoreless ninth.
Dinos and Golden Tide continue on Sunday with a double header with first game scheduled for 10am.
