LANGLEY, B.C. - With two more dominant performances, the University of Calgary Dinos women's rugby 7s team closed out their 2024 season by claiming the Canada West bronze medals following the second and final day of action at this weekend's tournament, hosted by Trinity Western University at Willoughby Community Park Stadium Sataurday.

Calgary went 1-2 on Friday and followed that up with a perfect 2-0 showing Saturday, taking down both provincial rivals to finish with the league bronze medal.

Saturday's action started against Alberta. The Pandas got on the board first for a 5-0 lead, but big runs from Sofia Brussoni and Makayla Joseph gave the Dinos a 14-5 lead at the half. Brussoni added another try in the second as the Dinos cruised to a 19-5 win in the final Battle of Alberta of the season.

Then, in the season finale, things followed a similar script. Lethbridge opened the game with a try on their first possession to take a 5-0 advantage, only to see a huge run the length of the field by Melody Kivia as the Scarlet & Gold held a 7-5 edge at the break. A nifty play by Esita Qiodravu extended the lead before Delaney Aikens put things out of reach with some insurance points for the second 19-5 win of the day.

Aikens also added three converts on the day, while Brussoni also added one.

With the two wins, the Dinos finished third not only at the final tournament of the season with a 3-2 record, but they also claimed the conference's bronze medals with 14 points in the overall standings following the three tournaments spanning the last five weeks.
