LANGLEY, B.C. – The University of Calgary Dinos women's rugby 7s team picked up a big win over host Trinity Western on the first day of action from the final Canada West tournament Friday at Willoughby Community Park Stadium.

Trailing 10-0 early, the Dinos rallied and got tries from Alison Kernick, Willow Beyea, Esita Qiodravu and Daisy Shackley for a big 24-10 comeback win.

In all, Calgary finished Day 1 going 1-2, falling to league leaders UBC and Victoria.

The Thunderbirds and Vikes remained on top the standings with each team going 3-0 to open the final tournament of the Canada West season. The Alberta Pandas, Lethbridge Pronghorns, and Calgary Dinos each went 1-2, while host TWU Spartans finished the day 0-3.  

Calgary has two more games Saturday, taking on provincial rivals Alberta (11:22 a.m. MT) and Lethbridge (2:22 p.m. MT) to close out the spring season.
