Langley, B.C. – The No. 10 University of Calgary Dinos women's hockey team scored the first three goals in Saturdays' game and held on for a 3-2 win over the Trinity Western Spartans at the Langley Events Centre.
The win moves the Dinos to 4-3-1, while the Spartans fall to 1-4.
The Dinos got on the scoreboard first with a goal from
Sophia Zuck at 8:52. Despite opportunities from both teams, it would be the only goal of the opening 20 minutes, with the Dinos leading 1-0 heading into the first intermission.
April Klarenbach made it 2-0 at 13:30 of the second period when you picked up a lose puck in front of the Spartans net and beat Kate Fawcett. It was her second goal of the weekend.

Rebecca Clarke got the game-winner at 6:14 of the third.
Trailing 3-0 late with under a minute to go, the Spartans scored two goals in 12 seconds to make things interesting. Scoring for the Spartans were second-year forward Kyra Anderson and third-year forward Kara Yackel.
Unfortunately for the Spartans, they could not find another as the Dinos held on for the 3-2 win.
Amelia Awad made 25 saves in the Dinos victory, while Fawcett made 23 saves in the Spartans' net.
The Dinos head into a bye week and return to action Nov. 8-9 when they host the Regina Cougars. Meanwhile, the Spartans will travel to Regina and face the Cougars on Nov. 1-2.
