Lethbridge, Alta. – Daisy Shackley scored a pair of tries for the University of Calgary Dinos as they fell 65-17 to the Lethbridge Pronghorns in their final regular season game at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium.

The Pronghorns came out strong on Saturday and scored four tries in the opening 20 minutes of the match to take a commanding lead. Payton Viney and Charli Helland had three tries each as Lethbridge completed the regular season with a 4-2 record.

In addition to Shackley's two tries, Calgary also got scoring from Melody Kivia. The Dinos young squad will be able to test themselves and continue their campaign when they host the Canada West Championship next week.

Molly Aellen smashed across the try line just a minute in for the game's first score and gave Lethbridge an early lead.

Not letting up, Viney scored her first two tries, while Zina Umeh also got across the try line to put the home side ahead 24-0.

Shackley ended Lethbridge's scoring run in the 24th minute when she bulldozed her way to a try on the left wing. The former Canada West All-Star picked up her second try before halftime, but the Dinos were down 38-12 at the break. 

A try by Rebecca Powell got the second half started for the Pronghorns. Helland had two second-half tries, while Viney added her third as they both ended the day with hat tricks.

A strong individual effort by Melody Kivia registered Calgary's third try of the day.

The Dinos' defence dug in for the final 10 minutes as they resisted sustained pressure from the Pronghorns and mounted a strong charge up the middle. Lethbridge handled the Calgary attack well and held firm with several clutch tackles.

The Dinos and Pronghorns will take part in the conference's final four, which begins Thursday, Oct. 17 at McMahon Stadium. Stay tuned to GoDinos.com for schedule information.
