CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women's rugby team fell 67-7 to the University of Victoria Vikes on Sunday in the Jenny Vincent Memorial Game, the Dinos' final home game of the season at McMahon Stadium.

Victoria's first-half surge decided the contest, and the Vikes finished with 11 tries. Sasha McKee opened the scoring in the fourth minute. Calgary was awarded a penalty try in the 10th minute to take a 7-5 lead, the only time the Dinos were in front. From there, the Vikes ran off six unanswered tries before halftime to lead 41-7.

Piper Walsh, Cypress Des Ormeaux Schmidt, Marin O'Regan and Maggie MacKinnon each crossed the try line in the first half, and Kendra Cousineau scored twice. MacKinnon converted four of the Vikes' tries over the game.

The Dinos came out of halftime with more intensity, and it took Victoria until the 53rd minute to add to its total, when Ivy Poetker scored. The Vikes finished with three late tries, from Remee Brown in the 67th minute, ShonDreya Smardon in the 71st and Brown again in the 80th. Brown converted both of her own tries.

Following the game, the Dinos honoured 11 players graduating from the program this season.

The Dinos will return to action Saturday, Oct. 10 when they travel to face the Lethbridge Pronghorns at 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on Canada West TV powered by BioSteel.

Victoria will travel to face the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday, Oct. 17.
