CALGARY - The University of Calgary Dinos women's soccer team racked up 28 shots on the day but couldn't crack the Fraser Valley defence as Kareena Sahota recorded six saves and was active in the box all day long in leading the Cascades to a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon from Dinosaur Field.
Both teams move to 4-1-2 following Sunday's result.
The Dinos dominated possession in the first half, outshooting UFV 15-2 in the first 45, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
It was much of the same in the second, as Calgary racked up another 13 shots after intermission to just one by the Cascades. But again, Sahota came up big on multiple occasions to limit the Dinos attack.
The most dangerous moment came when Alison Pederson came off the bench and made and instant impact on the game, pushing the Dinos attack instantly. In the 85th minute, the fourth year had a go from 30 yards out, but Sahota was once again up to the challenge, just getting her fingers on the shot from distance and pushing it off the crossbar and out of play.
Sahota finished the day with six saves in keeping her fourth consecutive clean sheet. The shutout is also the fourth of the season for French, who lowers her goals-against average to 0.83 on the year.
The Dinos return to action on the road next weekend, starting a trip west against UBC-Okanagan Friday night at 8:30 p.m. MT. Meanwhile, the Cascades finally will play at home after starting the season with six consecutive road matches, hosting Saskatchewan on Friday night.
