TORONTO - Gabriella Durante of the University of Calgary Dinos women's hockey team has been named the U SPORTS Women's Hockey Player of the Week, the national sport office announced Wednesday afternoon. 

Durante had a remarkable showing against one of the top offences in the nation last weekend in a road series against previously third-ranked UBC. The Calgary goaltender finished the weekend racking up an incredible 72 saves to help the Dinos come away with an important weekend split against the defending conference champs.

The fourth-year turned away a career-high 48 shots in Friday's opener to help Calgary to a 3-2 win - marking the first time UBC has been beaten in regulation all season. Durante then followed up that performance by making another 24 saves less than 24 hours later.

For her efforts, Durante was also named the Canada West Women's Hockey Player of the Week earlier in the week.

The Dinos are back at home this weekend to close out the fall semester, hosting Trinity Western for a series at Father David Bauer Arena, starting Friday at 7 p.m.
