CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women's hockey team (7-9-0-0) will lace up against their crosstown rival, the Mount Royal University Cougars (12-2-2-0), in a home-and-home set this weekend.
Friday's puck drop will be at 7 p.m. from Father David Bauer Arena, with Saturday's action set to start at 6 p.m. from the Flames Community Arenas.
CROSSTOWN SMACKDOWN
This year's games at the Scotiabank Saddledome were cancelled, but the rivalry for the best university team in Calgary still stands. The Dinos have split their conference matchups this season against the Cougars, including a 1-0 win at Tsuut'ina Nation.
ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN
The tight race for the sixth and final playoff position continues. Following a weekend off, the Dinos have slipped into seventh place in the Canada West standings, two points behind Regina, but the Dinos have played two fewer games. With four games in the regular season remaining, every point is vital as the Dinos push for the playoffs.
EVERYONE CONTRIBUTING
The Dinos put on a show last game as they upset the UBC Thunderbirds 5-0.
Holly Reuther mentioned after the game, "everyone contributed, everyone did their role." Veterans and rookies showed up in that important game, while
Gabriella Durante had a star performance in net to earn a shutout.
