CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey team (11-6-1-0) will wrap up their regular season with a home-and-home set against the Mount Royal University Cougars (12-5-1-0) this weekend.
Puck drop will be Friday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Flames Community Arena, with the rematch set for Saturday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Father David Bauer Arena.
DIFFERENT ARENA, SAME RIVALRY
The ultimate crosstown rivalry is usually highlighted at the Scotiabank Saddledome, where the Flames play host to the largest gathering of students in the city. That game will pivot to the Dinos and Cougars home rinks this weekend with playoff positioning on the line, including the opportunity for a first-round bye.
SPLIT ROAD TRIP
The Dinos are coming off a four-game road trip where they faced the UBC Thunderbirds and Alberta Golden Bears. Despite playing shorthanded at times over those past four contests, Calgary finished with a split and four out of a possible eight points. Those points were pivotal with Alberta and UBC sitting ahead of Calgary in the standings.
GRADUATING PLAYERS
Before Saturday's game at home, the Dinos will recognize the players graduating from the program this season,
Ryan Gagnon,
Ryan Graham,
Tyler Gutenberg,
Josh Rieger,
James Shearer,
Tim Vanstone. Three members of this season's graduating class have been with the program since 2017 – Gagnon, Gutenberg, and Vanstone.
