Dinos, Horns, square off in home-and-home

CALGARY – The No. 6 University of Calgary Dinos kick off the second half of their season this weekend as they take on the Lethbridge Pronghorns in a home-and-home set.

This weekend's action begins Saturday, Oct. 2, at 12 p.m., with the first match in Lethbridge. The third and final meeting of the 2021 season between the Dinos and Pronghorns will be held at Dinosaur Field on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 12 p.m.

CW REGULAR SEASON BACK NINE
This weekend's matchup marks the second half of the regular season for the Dinos. The Dinos held the top spot in the Central Division standings throughout most of the first half, but were surpassed on Sept. 25 by the MacEwan Griffins and now hold onto the second spot with a record of 4-1-1. 

BOUNCE BACK
The Dinos faced adversity for the first time in the 2021 season against the Mount Royal Cougars. The Dinos lost the first matchup by a 2-1 score, resulting in their first defeat of the season. The second match resulted in a 1-1 draw after the Cougars tied the game in the second half.

DOMINANT DINOS
In the first Dinos-Horns matchup of the 2021 season, the Dinos dominated both sides of the ball and picked up a 4-0 victory at home. The Southern Alberta matchup has historically favoured the Dinos as the program has posted a record of 48-11-6 all-time against the Pronghorns.

  • The Pronghorns will be coming into the weekend rested after a bye
  • Lethbridge has struggled to score, with their last goal coming on Sept. 11 against Mount Royal

UP NEXT
The Dinos will enjoy a week off before returning to action Oct. 16-17 in Edmonton as they take on the Pandas. The Pronghorns will face the Pandas as well, Oct. 9-10.
