Dinos blanked in return home

CALGARY – Arden Kliewer stopped 27 shots as the University of Regina Cougars shutout the University of Calgary Dinos 1-0 on Friday night at the Father David Bauer Arena.

Missed opportunities from the Dinos proved costly, as a first-period power-play goal by the Cougars stood as the game-winner. Calgary has now lost five in a row and slips to 3-8-0 on the season, while Regina stands at 4-5-2.

"You do not have to change the world, you just have to start executing small little details at key times," said Dinos head coach Carla MacLeod, who will be looking for urgency in her team's game in Saturday's rematch.

Gabriella Durante started between the pipes for the Dinos on Friday and was busy, stopping 16 out of 17 in the opening frame.  The only goal to beat her was a tight battle in front of the net where the puck came loose to Paige Hubbard. The Regina forward popped the puck over Durante for her second goal of the season.

Durante finished with 27 saves to match her counterpart, Kliewer.

The Dinos and Cougars hit the ice again on Saturday, Nov. 27 with a 2 p.m. puck drop at Father David Bauer Arena.
