WINNIPEG – The University of Manitoba Bisons finished a home-opening weekend punctuated by explosive offence on Saturday, defeating the University of Calgary Dinos 5-2 at Wayne Fleming Arena.
The Bisons scored all five of their goals in the second period after
Holly Reuther put the Dinos up 1-0 midway through the first period.
Kylie Lesuk scored her second and third goals of the young season, while Ashley Keller scored her third after scoring two in a 6-4 win on Friday. Fourth-year Lauren Warkentin and first-year Jessica Haner also scored for the home side.
The Dinos scored a second goal late in the third to make the game a bit closer, as
Bridget Rezansoff was assisted by
Alli Borrow and
Madeline Stanley.
Erin Fargey earned the win for Manitoba, making 29 saves.
The Dinos return to Father David Bauer Arena next weekend for their home-opening weekend against the MacEwan Griffins, Oct. 22-23.
