Home-and-home with Horns opens Thursday night

CALGARY – After sweeping the UNBC Timberwolves, the University of Calgary Dinos men's basketball team looks to keep the momentum going against the Lethbridge Pronghorns this weekend.

The Dinos will square off against the Pronghorns, who are currently ranked fourth offensively in Canada West, in a home and home series beginning Thursday night at Jack Simpson Gymnasium.

ABOUT LAST WEEKEND
Hosting the UNBC Timberwolves to open the decade, the Dinos came away with two wins on the weekend. The Dinos currently sit atop the Canada West standings with a 10-0 record and have won 29 straight games at home in the regular season. 

LAYTON LAYING DOWN THE LAW
Fourth-year law student Brett Layton has been laying down the law all season on both ends of the court for the Dinos. Layton was named the Canada West first star this past week and U SPORTS male athlete of the week after setting a Canada West record in offensive rebounds with 14 on Friday night against the UNBC Timberwolves. Layton has been stellar for the Dinos all season is the top rebounder in Canada West averaging 14.9 per game. 

QUOTABLE
"I think our team is prepared. Lethbridge is a good basketball team and they always play well in their gym. Their tempo is tough, and we're going to have to do a good job handling the ball," said Dan Vanhooren, looking forward to this week's matchup against the Pronghorns.

UP NEXT
The return match Saturday in Lethbridge kicks off a six-game road trip for the Dinos, which will see them head to Winnipeg, then Saskatchewan, and then Alberta for a single before returning home to face the Golden Bears Feb. 1.
