Rare playoff match-up as Dinos host ‘Horns

| By:
CALGARY – It's an all-Alberta playoff battle this weekend as the University of Calgary Dinos host the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, with the rivals meeting in the postseason for the first time since 2003.

The first round gets underway Friday, Feb. 15 starting at 7 p.m. with Game 2 Saturday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. Game 3, if necessary, goes Sunday at 6 p.m. Father David Bauer Arena will play host to all three contests.

DINOS DOMINANCE
The regular season series between Lethbridge and Calgary has been very one sided in favour of the Dinos. Calgary swept the four games, outscoring the Pronghorns by an impressive 14-1 margin. Calgary are currently riding a three-game streak against Lethbridge in which they haven't allowed a goal. The shutout streak isn't the only impressive defensive stat as the Dinos are also sitting perfect on the penalty kill over the four games.

STREAKING INTO PLAYOFFS
Going into the 2018-19 Canada West playoffs, the Dinos will look to extend an impressive streak of eight straight years in which they have made it into the semifinal. Despite the success in the first round, the struggles in the second round have been consistent, not getting through to the finals since 2011-12, a fate that they will look to change in this year's run.

ROCK SOLID
The Dinos defensive unit has been spectacular throughout the season and is sure to be a big part of the 2018-19 playoff run. The penalty kill is currently sitting at 85.2 percent, good enough for fourth in Canada West. Goals have also been hard to come by for opponents due to the strong goaltending of Jordan Papirny and Matt Greenfield, who combined for a 2.37 goals-against average.
