Horns next in third straight provincial rivalry weekend

CALGARY – After a tight series split with rival Mount Royal Cougars, the University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey team will look to pick up a pair of wins this weekend against the Lethbridge Pronghorns in a home and home series.

The action gets started on Friday Nov .22 at Nicholas Sheran Arena in Lethbridge, followed by a return to Father David Bauer Arena for the second game on Saturday.

CROWCHILD ROUND ONE
Last weekend marked the first of the two series with rivals Mount Royal Cougars. As per usual, the two teams battled in a pair of thrillers with the Cougars taking game one in overtime and the Dinos fighting off a MRU comeback in the second game to gain the split.

PRONGHORNS DOMINANCE
The Dinos have gotten the best of Lethbridge during the past couple seasons, currently riding a six game win streak including knocking the Pronghorns out of the Canada West playoffs in the first round last season.

NOTES
  • Lethbridge is coming off a tough weekend in Vancouver where they got swept by the Thunderbirds, being outscored 12-1 over two games.
  • The last time the two teams met was in the first round of the Canada West playoffs last season where the Dinos swept their way to a semi-final appearance.
  • The Pronghorns' goaltending has struggled this season with a Canada West-worst 4.96 GAA.

UP NEXT
The Dinos will finally stay put for a weekend after three consecutive home-and-home series. The University of Regina Cougars head to Calgary for two games starting on Nov.29.
