CALGARY – After finishing an impressive regular season, the University of Calgary Dinos women's soccer team heads into the Canada West Playoffs holding second place in the Pacific Division standings.
As a result, the Dinos host one of three mini-tournaments this weekend. Action begins Friday at noon when the Manitoba Bisons take on the UNBC Timberwolves at Dinosaur Field. The winner advances to Sunday, where they will play the host Dinos in a conference quarter-final.
They will host the winner of the contest between the University of Manitoba and the University of Northern British Columbia at 12 p.m. on their home turf at Dinosaur Field.
ANYTHING BUT REGULAR
After a fantastic season that saw the Dinos achieve a variety of accolades all over the field, they look to carry their success into the playoffs and for a chance to play once again in the national championships in Victoria. Among the achievements was an immaculate run of 26 unbeaten games that stretched back to the 2018 season.
FIREPOWER EVERYWHERE
It's no secret that the Dinos back line has been nothing short of brilliant during the regular season. Led by
Lauren Houghton between the posts, the Calgary defense has allowed a miniscule four goals over 14 games, averaging 0.50 goals against. Up front, the offense owns a Canada West second best 0.139 shot percentage thanks to a 31 goal campaign.
