CALGARY – Nine of the 17 teams in Canada West women's basketball descend on the Jack Simpson Gym this weekend to play a series of non-conference matches with the regular season just a week away.

The tournament features teams that will not face each other in the regular season due to Canada West's unbalanced schedule, with UBC, Victoria, Fraser Valley, Trinity Western, MacEwan, Alberta, and Lethbridge joining Mount Royal and the host Dinos.

The Dinos (7-0) will look to extend their impressive preseason run as they take on Fraser Valley at 3 p.m. Friday and Victoria Saturday at 1 p.m.

The 2019-20 Canada West season opens Nov. 1-2, but the Dinos have the rare first-week bye. Calgary gets underway Nov. 8-9 with a visit to UBC in Vancouver, with the home openers set for the following week, Nov. 15-16 against the Brandon Bobcats.
