Make-up date with Griffins lands on Sunday

| By:
CALGARY – With winter weather arriving early in the Stampede City, the University of Calgary Dinos will finally host the MacEwan Griffins at Dinosaur Field on Sunday – making up for a game postponed two weeks ago due to snowfall.

The Dinos' lone match of the weekend will take place on Oct. 13 at 2:15 p.m. following the women's soccer game with the UNBC Timberwolves.

BRUSTING THE SLUMP
With losses in three consecutive contests, the Dinos were in need of a slump buster last Sunday when they visited the Lethbridge Pronghorns. Calgary came away with a 3-1 victory on the day as second-year forward Derek Brust scored a pair of goals. The tallies were the first of the season for Brust, who netted three in 2018 en route to Canada West All-Rookie team honours.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
Sunday's match will be the 12th between the Dinos and Griffins in conference play since MacEwan graduated to Canada West in 2014. In the previous meetings, the Dinos have an 8-3 record against the Griffins – but all their troubles have come in Edmonton. In Calgary, the Dinos are undefeated in the four games they have hosted MacEwan. These two teams last met on Sept. 7 when the Dinos suffered a 2-1 setback in the Alberta capital.

SCORING WOES
Getting on the scoresheet first will be key for both teams in Sunday's match. MacEwan is 12th among Canada West teams with 0.91 goals per game and has not had a multi-goal game since their last meeting with Calgary on Sept. 7. The Dinos rank sixth with 17 goals in 12 matches but have been without their top scorer Dominik Zuczek since Sept. 21.

STANDINGS WATCH
Picking up points this weekend is pivotal for the Dinos with only two games left in the season. The Saskatchewan Huskies jumped one point ahead of Calgary in the Prairie Division following a four game win streak. After facing MacEwan, the Dinos will close out the regular season versus the division-leading Mount Royal Cougars.
