Huskies provide bellwether in early-season test

CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos enter their third week of regular season action with back-to-back games against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. The first game will tip off at 6 pm in the Jack Simpson Gym on Friday, followed by the second of the two-game series at 5pm in the Jack Simpson Gym on Saturday.

FAMILIAR FACES
Dinos star Guard, Sascha Lichtenwald, will be going up against her former team this weekend. After starting her debut season with the Dinos as the second leading scorer on the team, averaging 12.3 points per game, she will look be a significant factor against the Huskies this weekend.

TOUGH COMPETITION
The Huskies will test the maturity of this young Dinos team. After finishing last season with a silver medal in the U SPORTS Final 8, the Huskies have begun this season with a 3-1 record in the regular season. The Dinos concluded last season with a fifth-place finish in the U SPORTS Final 8 and have kicked off this season with a 2-2 record, closely trailing a powerful Huskies team. This will be an important series for this Dinos team to prove themselves as Canada West contenders.

QUOTABLE
The Huskies rank third in Canada West for total steals this season, and Head Coach Damian Jennings knows that, despite achieving their first regular season wins this past week, they'll need to clean up their execution.

"Of course it's good to get off a first win tonight, but man we executed poorly. Just technically." Damian Jennings on their Thursday night win against the Pandas
