Vikes up next for undefeated Dinos

CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos men's basketball team will play to stay on top of the Canada West standing with a pair of home games against the Victoria Vikes. On Saturday the Dinos and the Vikes will face off at 7 p.m. and will be back in action at 3 p.m. on Sunday, both games will be at the Jack Simpson Gym.

EXCELLENT GUARD PLAY
Mambi Diawara has been a force to be reckoned for the Dinos. The fifth-year guard is averaging 22.5 ppg in Canada West, second to only Tyvon Cooper. David Kapinga is shooting 58.8 per cent from three-point range, which is second in Canada West. This duo played a huge role in the Dinos championship run and this season they have picked up right where they left off.

WELL OILED MACHINE
The Dinos have been on a hot start offensively averaging 93.3 ppg and 34 field goals made per game, which are both second in the league. Defensively the Dinos are one of the best in the league, they have only allowed 70.8 points per game and have held their opponents to a 36.5 field goal percentage per game.

QUOTABLE
Head coach Dan Vanhooren said he expects a tough couple of games from the Vikes and hope to keep their early season success going forward.

"We hope to continue what we've been doing, play with some tempo, and it will be interesting to see what they bring they are quite a competitive program and they have been for years."

"There guard play is excellent, they shoot the ball well, and they have some bigs that can really get the job done, so we're playing a real competitive team this weekend."
