Dinos search for scoring in tilt with 'Horns

CALGARY – Still in search of their first win this season, the University of Calgary Dinos will faceoff with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, in a home-and-home split this weekend.

The opening game between the two squads will take place on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Father David Bauer Arena, before shifting south to Lethbridge on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Nicolas Sheran Arena.

COASTAL CHALLENGE
The Dinos are on the heels of a tough weekend out west against the first place UBC Thunderbirds, where they registered back-to-back 4-0 losses.

Special teams proved to be a big turning point throughout the weekend, with the Dinos giving up three power play goals on eight UBC attempts, while going 0-for-6 on advantages of their own. In the two losses, Dinos goaltenders Kelsey Roberts and Kira Wasylak combined to make 64 stops on 70 shots faced.

"I think the team is ready to score some goals," said Dinos captain Paige Michalenko. "We're all excited to get a couple wins this weekend."

PRONGHORNS SILVER LINING
The Pronghorns only have one victory this season, but it hasn't been because of goaltender Alicia Anderson. Despite a losing record, Anderson has posted sparkling numbers through her five starts, highlighted by a save percentage of 0.951, which is seventh best in Canada West, indicative of the strong goaltending league wide.

"Their goaltending is really strong and that's what we've been focusing on in practice this week… We've been taking the eyes away from our own goalies and working on those details," Michalenko added.

ALBERTAN ANIMOSITY
These two provincial rivals have had similar trajectories in the last few seasons, consistently combating for the final playoff spot in Canada West. Last season, the Dinos found plenty of success over the Pronghorns, winning 3 of the 4 games played, while the season before that, the Pronghorns won 3 of 4.
