CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women's rugby team closes out the 2018 regular season on the road against the Lethbridge Pronghorns Thursday night.
Kickoff will be in Lethbridge on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. in the second meeting between the two teams this season. Calgary won the first battle 41-17 on Sept. 30 and has clinched first place in Canada West for the fifth straight year with their 5-0 record. Lethbridge (1-4) needs a win to have any shot at qualifying for the postseason.
WINNING STREAK
The two-time defending Canada West champion Dinos continued their win streak with their 20th consecutive regular season game over the weekend against the Pandas.
TOUGH VICTORY
The Dinos won 24-10 over the Pandas on Thursday in Edmonton. Calgary was off to a slow start with try in the 40th minute bringing the Dinos to a 12-3 lead in the first half. The Dinos were victorious with another two tries in the second half finishing the game off at 24-10
QUOTABLE
"It's been two games in a row against the Pandas where it came down to the very end," said Dinos head coach
Simon Chi. "Both were very physical battles. We didn't get off to the greatest start, but a lot of that was due to the Pandas playing tough, and with a lot of emotion. But our girls dug deep, and managed to find a way to win that game."
