CALGARY - The University of Calgary Dinos women's basketball team blew out the Lethbridge Pronghorns 98-39 at the 2015 Calgary Cup at Jack Simpson Gymnasium on Friday night.

BOX SCORE

With six different Dinos hitting double digits, the game was no contest as Calgary was just a basket away from scoring 100 points. Defensively, the Dinos grabbed 51 rebounds and allowed no more than 12 points in a quarter.

Guard Kristie Sheils had a great night for the home team, recording the game's only double-double with 10 rebounds and 13 points. She added a game-high four assists to her totals. Both Kelsey Lund and Claire Colborne recorded nine rebounds and 16 points on the night. Other Dinos hitting double digits included Ashley Hirons with 12 points and Brianna Ghali and rookie Jenna Spruyt with 11 points each.

For the Pronghorns, Zoe Dahl scored a team-high 10 points, followed by Mariah Miller with seven.

With a number of turnovers to start the game, the Dinos took the lead and never looked back. After a commanding 18-7 lead with three minutes left, Calgary was able to extend it to 32-10 at the end of the quarter, drawing lots of fouls and sinking baskets at the line. In the second, the Dinos allowed just five points to be scored by the Pronghorns with quick offensive plays and plenty of scoring.

In the second half, newcomers such as Erin McIntosh and Spuryt saw lots of court time, helping the Dinos go up 70-21. Nearing the end of the game, the Dinos never let up, ending the Calgary Cup with a win.

The Dinos head out east to Toronto to play in the Darcel Wright Memorial Tournament hosted by Ryerson University next weekend. They begin the regular season at home when they take on the Winnipeg Wesmen on Nov. 6.
