CALGARY – Closing out the home portion of their non-conference schedule on Thursday evening at the Father David Bauer Arena, the University of Calgary Dinos earned a 4-0 win over the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.
Second-year Dinos
Chris Collins and
Drydn Dow scored goals during the first period as Calgary took advantage of some early pressure. Neither side found the back of the net again until the third when
Dan Gibb sent a bouncing shot past the Lethbridge netminder.
Walker Wintoneak rounded out the scoring with a tip-in mid-way through the final frame.
Wintoneak (1g, 1a),
Colton Grant (2a), and
Adam Kambeitz (2a) led all skaters with two points in the game.
Elgin Pearce,
Davis Vandane and
Corey Chorneyko also had helpers.
For the second-straight night,
Kris Lazaruk got the start for the Dinos. The Edmonton native made 24 saves for the shutout, while his counterpart Dylan Tait turned away 31 shots for the Pronghorns.
Calgary outshot Lethbridge 35-24.
The Dinos begin the 2014-15 regular season at home when they welcome the Manitoba Bisons to Father David Bauer Arena for a two-game set on Sept. 26-27.
