CALGARY – Still undefeated after four games, the University of Calgary Dinos continue to be a force to be reckoned early in the season as they sit atop the Canada West standings.
Last weekend, the Dinos took to McMahon stadium to face the visiting Manitoba Bisons, and didn't disappoint. Despite giving up a 1-0 lead early on, Calgary stormed back to score three unanswered goals for the win.
The following day, back on West Varsity Pitch, the Dinos scored an outstanding 11 goals on the Winnipeg Wesman, with eight of them coming in the first half. Both
Ann Stranges and
Amy Hockings came up with hat tricks and seven Dinos got on the scoresheet that game.
Following a wildly successful weekend, centre midfielder
Tessa Miller, who scored both game winning goals, was named the Canada West third star of the week.
The University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves head to Calgary this weekend to take on the 3-0-1 Dinos. Last weekend, UNBC fell to the Mount Royal Cougars 2-1 and have yet to win a game this season. They are currently 0-4.
The Dinos will then head out on the road for two weekends, first traveling to prairies to take on the Regina Cougars and the Saskatchewan Huskies, Sept 28-29 before heading in the opposite direction the following weekend to face the Fraser Valley Cascades and the Victoria Vikes, Oct. 4-5.
