CALGARY – The playoff push is on and the Dinos continue to deliver as they try to close out Winnipeg for that final spot. Calgary defeated the Regina Cougars at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium on Friday night by a score of 85-75.

Thijin Moses had a game-high 26 points in the game, and Regina's Connor Burns matched that with 26 of his own. Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson followed up that performance with 19 points and ten rebounds for the double-double and Josh Owen-Thomas scored 16 more for the Dinos in the win. This marks the sixth win in seven games the Dinos have captured since the Christmas break.

Frank Brown scored 16 points for the Cougars in their loss, Paul Gareau recorded 14 more and Brendan Hebert rounded out the scoring for the visiting team with another ten.

The first quarter saw both teams trade leads a number of times. Veterans from Regina including the likes of Gareau and Hebert were making the difference for the visitors with five points a piece. But it was Dinos point guard Ogungbemi-Jackson that would help pull Calgary away before the first ten minutes were up. His eight points, six of them coming in the final two minutes, helped the Dinos lead by eight at 22-14 after the first.

It took the Dinos a solid three minutes to get on the board, with the Cougars going on a 7-0 run to start the second quarter. Thijin Moses got the Dinos fired up though, and helped them keep their lead from the first. The fourth-year forward recorded ten points in the first half and was the first on the court to hit double digits.

The Dinos took a 34-27 lead heading into the second half over the Cougars in what was a low scoring second quarter.

Three minutes into the second half, the Dinos found themselves up by double digits for the first time in the game. They're lead grew to 13, forcing the Cougars to call a timeout. The timeout didn't help the visitors in the least, as Calgary continued to dominate the third quarter, going up 60-43.

Regina wouldn't give up that easily though. With the Dinos lessening on the defensive end, they allowed the Cougars to pull within six with just a minute left thanks to the offense coming from Burns. Despite some hard fought battles in the final minute of the game, Calgary closed out the match for the 85-75 win.

Calgary, now 10-7, and Regina, falling to 6-11, will face off again February 2 at the Jack at 7 p.m. following the women's game.
