Dinos sweep Cougars

| By:
BOX SCORE CALGARY – The Mount Royal Cougars lost to the Calgary Dinos tonight by a score of 3-2 at the Flames Community Arenas.

Sinead Tracy, Calaine Inglis and Erika Mitschke scored for the Dinos.  Reanna Arnold and Sydney Laurin added goals for the Cougars.

After suffering a tough loss last night up at Father David Bauer Arena, the Cougars were out for a little revenge on Saturday night. Early on, the Cougars dictated the pace of play, outshooting the Dinos 10-5 in the first period. The Cougars hard play resulted in the Dinos taking five minor penalties. However the Cougars could not capitalize on those power play opportunities and the score was tied 0-0 at the intermission.

The Dinos broke the deadlock at 2:07 of the first period. With Jocelyn Froehlich in the box for tripping, Sinead Tracy converted a pass from Sarah Astle to make the score 1-0 Calgary. Penalties began to add up for the Cougars which made it difficult to mount any offense while down a man. With just under three minutes left in the second period the Cougars let up another, as Calaine Inglis scored on a dish from Jayme Clark to make the score 2-0 Dinos at the intermission.

The start of the third and final period was relatively uneventful as both teams seemed content to clog up the neutral zone and send in only one fore-checker. The Cougars inability to score left them frustrated and the penalties began to pile up. A body checking penalty by Jess Reid led to a Dinos power play where Erika Mitschke scored to make it 3-0 Dinos. The Cougars answered right back, less than two minutes later Reanna Arnold scored on a pass from Shyla Stadnicki to make close the gap to 3-1. Sydney Laurin scored late for the Cougars to make it 3-2 but it was too little too late and the Dinos took the game 3-2.

The Cougars now drop to 2-10-0 on the season. The Dinos now hold a record of 5-6-1.

The Dinos will hit the road for the first of a home and home with Alberta next weekend, starting on Friday November 22, in Edmonton.
